Taking a photo with the Nikon D40, through a "scope" this automobile was approximately 240 meters away. Interesting lens reflections. The landscape was washed out until burnt in with Photoshop. --Out on location observing system testing. It was quite warm today, and I was not suffering delusions from heat stroke. I watched a black labrador retreiver take an empty plastic bottle and toss it in the trash can at the insistence of his owner. Nice trick!

Auntie P. rented a cottage on Lake Seneca for a week and I spent a few days hanging out with Gram & Gramps, Auntie P, and Deb, not to forget Moe. The weather was about 50-60 degrees and the wind was blustery at times. Fog in the morning... There were whitecaps on the lake and I was freezing my Florida butt off. We were in wine country. :) We were right around the corner from a Winery called...Glenora Wines. Try the White Riesling. Two thumbs up. You can find and order their wine over the internet. A bottle of White Riesling and a Key Lime Tart from Publix and you'll be in the mood for a party! Mom let me borrow her camera, which was AWSOME! A Sony... Painted by Charles Robert Leslie in the early 1900s, This is ultimately one of my favorite paintings. Seen here relatively small doesn't do this painting any justice. I believe it to be one of his last paintings from the research I've done. And though I found this on the net once, I haven't been able to find the source after subsequent searches. Very rich, I love the reds. I think this is the Royal British Family. The detail is only stunning. The children playing with the parrot to the sculptures and paintings in the background. Absolutely lovely!

Second set of pages for new layout...I think there is a need for a third set, which means to keep it 8 pages would only be room for the front and back cover...might have to expand at this point. I think this is and should be a key piece of literature and needs to be further developed...I'm starting to think folder cover where the pages can be added or removed.

With the success of the layout of a small product overview brochure I designed six months ago, the plan is to keep the artwork somewhat similar to that brochure and expand specific product information... This is an illustration idea for a bridal shower invitation. The bride and groom are into hiking and the decided theme is the "High Point Club". There is a club where members visit the high point in every state, the bride and groom have visited several. My girly pink and red polka dotted hiking boots with lace veil and roses was a whimsically enjoyable project.

Quarter 6: Photoshop, Photoshop, and more Photoshop. That was the best introduction anyone could have had, and thanks to the skill of the teacher. Later in the Quarter we set up a couple of websites and flirted with Flash.

Quarter 2: We learned CorelDraw, which was version 8 at the time. Quarter 3: An introduction to Illustrator and Quark. (An example of my efforts the cereal box here, "HotShotz" featuring and signed by a RedWing hockey player. I do not remember which one. The chocolatey cereal featured marshmellows in the form of hockey pucks. I encouraged my young target audience to play with their food, designing a paper hockey goal on the back of the box, to be cut out and assembled for the dining room table. I do believe that shortly thereafter the RedWings won the Stanley cup that year, coincidental fer shur.)

Tampa Technical Institute, January 2001, 1st Quarter Drawing Class, when I was working towards an A.S. in Digital Graphic Arts. Previous to this reintroduction, this artist had earned a B.F.A. and had the experience of 10 years of drawing classes. I'm not bragging, absolutely not! Just stating that my previous lessons made the first quarter that much easier, compared to other students whom may have had limited drawing practice and experience. I still do love drawing with pencil, though I haven't made time for it in quite a while. I need to work on that...

Skyline Display

This is a 2D illustration plus photo collage as I am starting to develop new possibilities of what we could do with a new Skyline Tradeshow display. In addition to the 10 foot tradeshow display backdrop with 4 full graphics panels, I've portrayed a simple truss system. A magnetic banner attaches to the front top of the display quoting the namesake. Additional accessories include a flat panel lcd display for a new corporate video and collapsable literature racks. Nicely, Skyline transporter cases are easily transformed into a display case to host the featured product.

Also wanted to note that vinyl removeable graphics can be added and replaced easily to the display case and even the full panel graphics.

This is a combination of having the right angle snapshot of the Humvee and having the Engineer render just the right angle of the new system, so that I could Photoshop them and place them in just the right environment. The night view is kinda cool too!

This is what I call a "Campaign". When you find you have a successful idea, it's in your best interest to milk it until the well runs dry. I am serious, but I think it's kind of funny. This illustration is very popular with our Armed Forces friends, and if it's the only thing they remember about us at least I have made an impression. When they hear our name something comes to mind.

The layout of the larger format tradeshow display. The bottom product line display poster was approximately 16" high and 47" wide, laminated and velcroed. It turned out really nice!! I'd love to hang it on my wall. Smarter thinking would prove that just before it gets too tired out at the tradeshow I need to get a poster frame and the Boss need's new wall art for the lobby.

Latest Tradeshow display. We are really pushing for potential Armed Forces clients interested in power and supply products. The second week of September we had two simultaneous tradeshows we sent Business Development personnel to. We have a table top display that is about 6 ft w x 5 ft h and a portable brieface display. I can make up to 11 x 17's in house for the briefcase (I love my Konica-Minolta bizhub C350) and send out for the large format inkjet printing to Chromatech (I love Chromatech). The larger format was set up a bit differently.

I am a big fan. This is the Syrian. She is a detail in the Systine Chapel. Pardon my spelling, I will have to double check. From research, the "Syrian" is said to have premonated the birth of Christ. Interesting to me is the angle of the publication she is holding resembles the angle of an angels wings. What is going on with this headdress she is wearing, I would love to know. And why is the scarf caught underneath the footstool? I think she is absolutely beautiful. I am inspired.

My product line brochure is a success. So much so, that I immediately need to create several key brochures featuring specific products. Lesson learned: Make the covers different for each one, so that the customer doesn't think they are the same thing. What to do about the different sizes of the products? TPS is small, however the next product is larger. The product line was designed to scale when possible, here however I think it may cause confusion. Product dimensions will need to be included in the publication.

Product Line Brochure

Wanting to keep this an inexpensive brochure, we can print it 2 up on 11 x17 paper. At a quantity of 5,000 our expense drops to under .25 cents a piece. I had this idea generated for several months, until the day I sat down and found the time to put it on paper. It took only a brief two days to layout. It does take a half hour to trim 20 of them by hand. So having them outsourced by Chromatech would be extremely cost effective. This piece has been a large hit with our staff and our customers and BD has requested several versions for specific products.

After looking at this parking sign every workday for the month, I whizz-dinged an idea for a small token of appreciation for the Employees of the Month. No names purposefully, this artist had to get around an organizational roadblock for the success of the idea.

Hydra Logo

I get very excited when I get to do a project like this. This is one of the company's programs. The Project Manager asked me to design a logo. In Greek mythology, Hydra was the 7 headed monster Hercules destroyed by cutting off all it's heads and then buried the last immortal one (head that is). This is one of my favorites. Initially designed using Illustrator's vector line art. Pieces were copied over into a multi-layed PS file for just the right special effects. What a blast! I love my job.

Tradeshow Display

What do you do when Industry Day is over and the posters you've printed all say Industry Day on them? You trim off the bottoms that say Industry Day and turn them into tradeshow displays. And then you add a spanky new banner that calls out the name of your company, this so happened to also be at the bottom of the posters underneath the Industry Day callout. It couldn't be saved because it was below the callout. Lesson Learned: Design ahead. It was a good save.

If I remember correctly, it took two weeks to develop these 14 posters. New photos of equipment had to be taken and everything needed to be photoshopped to look pretty. I switched out the tires on the HMVEE at the last minute, because the ones that were on there were in poor physical condition. Then there's always the question...How do you make a cable harness look sexy? How do you make a green box look sexy? The challenge was alot of fun. These were printed on a larger scale, 24 x 30, by my associates at Chromatech Printing. Nice job!

Industry Day continues...I had two months to ready the materials for Industry Day. Did I mention the company invited 500 guests? A product line of posters was needed, I had 14 to develop. With no direction, I ran with the ball. This is my favorite one, an unmanned energy scavenging vehicle. With no physical product and an engineering model that wasn't marketable, I drew "the boat" in Illustrator in a few hours. The preliminary research took longer than the time it took for me to draw up. The engineer was unhappy because I added the jib, but I think the small detail maked it look more attractive. Also criticism for it's sitting on dry land. However, my theory is that the pedestals in a museum room are all the same. It's the sculptures that are the individuals.

Industry Day! April 2006

Industry Day artwork was a three day brainstorm. My supervisor directed the composition of a flag, an eagle, and the representation of each branch of the Armed Forces. Three days, I said. I started researching what I had available to use, and managed to turn this out. "Neccesity is the mother of invention." So true. I am moderately pleased that it has been very well received...This is the first time our company has achieved a look of this kind. We invited over 500 guests, I was striving for a strong impression.
